An event marking the launch of Dave Haslam’s new book Life After Dark: A History of British Nightclubs & Music Venues
Featuring live music from Hot Vestry, with surprise guest DJs til late.
Hot Vestry are a band from Macclesfield who are masters of the elusive genre of Bleichpop. Despite having an average age of just twenty, the group have already some influential admirers, including James Endeacott (former A&R for the Strokes & Rough Trade), and Tim Burgess who released their debut EP, ‘A Scene In Between’ in March 2015 on his ‘O Genesis’ label. They’ve played festivals such as the Isle Of Wight, Kendal Calling & Festival Number 6 and supported the likes of Factory Floor, Public Service Broadcasting, and the Pop Group. The Manchester Evening News says they are “showing up British indie-pop’s recent complacency. The band marry big pop hooks with esoteric flourishes, juddering rhythms and an impressive questing spirit with their genre-straddling experimental pop”.
