HOUDINI DAX

SUGARMEN

Houdini Dax have had one hell of a year: between festival appearances at Liverpool Sound City, The Great Escape and Festival no. 6, they have been championed by NME’s Mark Beaumont and supported bands such as Slaves, Yak and The Strypes. The trio never fail to impress, whether selling out their hometown haunt Clwb Ifor Bach or winning over thousands of new fans at NH7 festival during their tour of India. The boys recorded a Maida Vale session for BBC Radio 1’s Huw Stephens, and their specially requested cover of the Andy Williams classic ‘Can’t Take My Eyes Off You’ was the soundtrack to the BBC’s coverage of Wales’ Euro 2016 qualifier campaign.

Their new album ‘Naughty Nation’ has already made a big impression, being shortlisted for the Welsh Music Prize 2015. Some of the songs may sound familiar: ‘Roll On Up’ was recently featured on Reach Out: Welsh Rock for Refugees alongside exclusive and previously unreleased tracks from the likes of Stereophonics, Manic Street Preachers and Super Furry Animals. Meanwhile, Dax anthems ‘Legs’, ‘Let’s Stick Together’ and ‘Good Old-Fashioned Maniac’ have been snapped up by Jack Wills, BT Sport and the Lad Bible, respectively.

Counting Rhod Gilbert and Charlotte Church amongst their fans, Houdini Dax are South Wales’ best kept secret; and they’re about to make a big impression on a national scale.
